About DELL Rail Kits
: DELL offers four choices for mounting rails. Dell rail kits will ONLY work with Dell servers.
READY RAILS
: Ready Rails are for use with Dell cabinet racks. They are designed to be compatible with
square hole racks and unthreaded round hole racks. The rail attaches to the rack on the
front mounting surface, instead of the rear and they require no tools for installation.
RAPID RAILS
: Rapid Rails are for use with DELL Cabinet racks. These are also referred to as "quick
connect" rail kits. They employ square tab-style connectors to easily install in 24U and
42U Dell and many third party, square hole racks.
VERSA RAILS
: Versa Rails are for use with many Non-Dell 19" four post cabinet style racks. These rails
can accomodate round or square holes and can be used with a DELL rack if the RAPID
RAILS are not available, however they must be mounted using the screws through the
square holes rather than snapping in.
2-POST RAILS
: 2-Post Rail kits are used for standard 3" or 6" post mounted racks (telco type racks) and
employ screws for mounting. These rack kits cannot be used on four post cabinet racks
and cannot be modified to fit four post cabinet racks.
